Get back in 2015 Airbnb renter boots gay couple in Galveston. 

 

Two Houston area men say a Galveston homeowner who rented them her house through the accommodations website Airbnb asked them to leave when she realized they were not a traditional orientation couple. The host has since been removed from Airbnb's website, a spokesperson said Thursday. "We have a zero tolerance policy for discrimination on Airbnb," the spokesperson said in a prepared statement. "Airbnb has clear guidelines that a host or a guest may not promote hate or bigotry. 

 

Texas Wins, an Austin-based anti-discrimination organization, applauded the company's action. "Bravo to Airbnb for doing the right thing," Christina Gorczynski, Texas Wins campaign director, said Thursday in a statement. "This is yet another example of companies leading the way on equality for all customers. They know discrimination – like what was on display this past weekend in Galveston – is bad for business. Jonathan Wang told KTRK-TV that he and his partner, Brent, had intended to stay at the bed and breakfast over the weekend while they were in Galveston to attend a wedding

 

Upon arriving Friday, they unpacked their bags and headed out for the evening without meeting the owner, according to KTRK.

 

When they returned and met her, Wang said she asked him where his wife was and told him she thought he was bringing a wife.

 

Wang responded that he hadn't specifically said that and asked her if it would be Okey. She said no and told the men to go away, KTRK reported. 

They scrambled to find other accommodations but were reimbursed by Airbnb, the couple told KTRK. 

As for the owner, she told KTRK,  "I'm completely of my legal realms and morals."

Asked if she rented to gay couples, she told the station, "That's none of your business. That's my private home.
